As I was sorting through old memorabilia, film slides, and effect wheels from our 70s/80s stage show days, I couldn't help feeling a wave of nostalgia washing over me. In those early days, we were renowned for our light show, especially the projections and effect wheels.
Steve Tallon was our lighting engineer and creative artist for our band; he used to design individual pictures for each of our songs. The pictures would be transferred into film slides, which would be projected during our show, creating an ever-changing backdrop. Steve also designed the album cover and booklet for our first record "The Body Album." He was a great friend, a kind and sensitive soul who is sadly missed by us all. 😞
It's a bittersweet feeling, knowing that we have no video footage of those performances, only pictures. But then I had a thought, "Why not recycle these ideas and use them for today's video, 'The Sun Will Never Shine"
This song has always held a special place in our hearts. Over the years, it has appeared on vinyl records, CDs, compilation albums, and has been played countless times on the radio. Thanks to the magic of the internet, it has been streamed by thousands of music enthusiasts all over the world.
"The Sun Will Never Shine" was the opening track on our very first album, aptly named "The Body Album," which we recorded back in 1981. For this particular version, I have re-edited the film footage and music from The Limelight Club in Crewe 23/11/1997.
The original film footage was shot on a camcorder by KJ, one of our road
crew.In this modern world were everything we do is captured on hi tech camera phones It might appear a bit shaky and grainy, but we're lucky to have any footage of our live shows.
I've taken the liberty to rearrange the video and add some slides and effects to try and recreate the feeling of our early stage show. Just light a few joss sticks, don those flares, and you'll be all set to take a delightful trip back in time.
I hope you all enjoy this nostalgic journey, reliving what our show used to look like many moons ago.
