about

"Our new album, 'A Head Full of Prog,' is a trip back in time to the heady days of 1997 🤘. The featured video and album finale is a live version of our song 'El Niño,' which happened to be the last song from the final show played together by the 1997 lineup at Limelight Club, Crewe, UK.
It's fitting to release this version of 'El Niño' in December because it's named after the warm equatorial current flowing along the coast of Peru, known as El Niño (meaning 'the child' in Spanish). It was named by Peruvian fishermen in the 19th century in honor of the Christ child. Later, scientists noticed that in some years, this warm current flow is more intense than usual, leading to erratic climatic changes. This video is our interpretation of this awesome phenomenon. Since writing the song in 1996, El Niño occurrences have become more frequent than at any time in Earth's history—currently 10 occasions 🫣. It’s like the planet can’t decide whether to crank up the heat 🥵 or chill out 🥶. Cue... Global warming alert ⚠️⚠️.
The other four tracks are live versions of songs from our stage show. The opening track for our album, 'The Meditating Jester from the 21st Century,' is actually three numbers merged into one. The beginning is from 'TM' (1979), the middle section 'Jester' was written in 1997, and the ending was from '21st Century,' an outtake from 'The Body Album' sessions in 1980.
'Teenage Dream,' originally written and performed in 1981, was a song about our teenage years growing up in Liverpool. It was a crowd favorite back in the early days, and it's nice to revamp it. Another song from the archives is 'Cheater,' written as a tongue in cheek response to being asked “Cant you you play something Rockier ” originally released on 'The Body Album' in 1981.
A similar story with 'Death or Glory,' beginning with a guitar piece originally composed by Tony in the 1970s. It blossomed into a new song in 1997 while jamming. The rehearsals were recorded on a cassette machine with just two microphones—the recordings are raw, unfiltered, but full of unbridled energy.
As we jingle and jangle our way towards the end of the year, Tony, John, and I want to thank you all for your messages of support and wish you a peaceful holiday full of joy and happiness. May the love of music be the bow tying us all together over the festive season 🎄. Please like, comment, and share, and don't forget to spread the cheer by subscribing to our YouTube channel: youtube.com/@thebandbody5352.
Until our next musical rendezvous, take care, have a rocking holly jolly Christmas, and may your New Year be merry and bright! 🎄🎶
